Top things to do in Tampa Bay this week: SNL's Pete Davidson, Rodeo Fest, Disney Halloween party

USF ROUND-UP: Pete Davidson

Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson will headline this year's University of South Florida Round-Up Comedy Show, a back-to-school tradition at USF. Davidson revealed in March the reason he had "kinda been missing" for a spell last season on SNL was because he was in rehab. "I quit drugs and am happy and sober for the first time in 8 years," he wrote on Instagram. Davidson joined SNL in 2014 when he was 20 years old, making him one of the youngest cast members ever. Expect to hear about his rehab, since he's known for his confessional comedy on highly sensitive subjects, including the loss of his firefighter father during the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. New York actor and comedian Ricky Velez is also on the bill at the USF Sun Dome. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Friday and the show starts at 8. This is a free event exclusively for students. With more than 40,000 students it will still likely be a packed house so arrive early to get a good seat. 4202 E Fowler Ave., Tampa. (813) 974-3004. sundomearena.com.

BOO: Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

It's not even close to fall yet, but Disney's Magic Kingdom is cranking up the tricks and treats for Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Before you complain that it's way too early to think about ghosts and ghouls, consider this is the one time the park allows you to dress up your little boos in costume to find treat stations, special fireworks, a villains dance party and a highly choreographed parade. You can get in as early as 4 p.m. Friday and Tuesday and see the crowds dwindle after the park officially closes for the party. Tickets start at $74 and rise to $115 closer to Halloween; $69-$110 for ages 3-9. 1515 N Buena Vista Drive, Lake Buena Vista. (407) 934-7639. disneyworld.com.

HORSE PLAY: Rodeo Fest

The annual Rodeo Fest organized by the Gus Trent Horse Ranch in Plant City brings cowboys and cowgirls from across the nation to show off their skills in bull riding, calf roping, team roping, barrel racing and mounted shooting. 6-9:30 p.m. Saturday at the Florida State Fairgrounds, 4802 U.S. 301 N, Tampa. $15, $10 ages 10 and younger. Tickets at eventbrite.com. (412) 592-6916.

    Sometimes, the more time you have with a project, the more complicated it gets. I started hearing about Mortar & Pestle in Seminole Heights about 18 months ago. It was the vision of Ujwal Patel, a pharmacist;
