Pinellas, Pasco moving some football games to Monday

RECOMMENDED READING

Pinellas County public schools have rescheduled Friday's football games for Monday night at 7, county athletic director Al Bennett said.

The rescheduled games are only for those involving county public school teams. Games involving teams from different counties (like Palm Harbor University-Riverview) have yet to be resolved. A few schools are trying to get games moved to a bye week (like Clearwater-Northeast).

Pasco County athletic director Matt Wicks said public school teams can reschedule Friday's games for Monday if they choose.

To alleviate concerns about lack of preparation, Pasco and Pinellas are allowing teams to practice Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Florida High School Athletic Association did allow — for this week only — practices on Sunday if school districts okay them.

There will be no immediate decision from Hillsborough County on when to reschedule games. So that means no public school games Monday.

Nearly every high school football game this week in Tampa Bay was postponed to give schools — and teams — more time recover from Hurricane Irma.

Hernando, Pasco, Hillsborough and Pinellas public schools are closed through the weekend.
