Christian Television Network host to bring talents to stage at Dulcet

Derrick Williams, host of the Christian Television Network's The Gospel Voice, brings something new to New Port Richey this month.

Beginning July 23, the vocalist and pianist will host Sunday Soulful Suppers the fourth Sunday of each month at the Dulcet Restaurant & Lounge, 6220 Grand Blvd.

The family-friendly event will include a red-carpet entrance, live gospel entertainment and upscale dining.

"We've never done anything like this," said Diana Duque, restaurant manager. "It's about people coming together to sing and worship. If you missed church earlier in the day, you can come by and still get some worship time."

Williams and his producer wife, Julie Silva-Williams, hosted a VIP launch night for the event June 25. About 75 people attended. The Christian Television Network filmed a commercial spot on site.

"I kept getting calls and requests from people who watch the television show, asking where to see Derrick and his band live," she said. "My husband and I started talking and thought wouldn't it be great to bring it to life as an old-fashion dinner show."

Derrick Williams, who toured for 19 years as the Rabbi in the musical The Rock & The Rabbi, performs a mix of jazz and gospel. He will appear with the Gospel Voice Band on July 23. Tickets are $35 for adults or $40 for upper-room seating. The event includes a full bar and signature menu.

Dulcet will open on Sundays only for this event at 6 p.m. The show is 90 minutes. For more information and tickets, visit thedulcet.com or derlierecords.com.
